The situation with electricity supply in the Mykolaiv region remains difficult. Residents should be prepared for the worst-case scenario — up to two hours of electricity per day.
This was stated by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, during a telethon.
As of today, the region has received orders to cut off 10 power lines according to emergency power cut schedules, which are imposed on top of planned restrictions. According to Vitalii Kim, this is due to network overload and problems with the transit of electricity from the western regions of Ukraine to the east, in particular imported electricity.
«Not the entire region is in a blackout, as has been reported, but there is very little light. According to my information, this is due to transit problems, overloaded networks, and transit from the west, including imported electricity to the east. Therefore, all six have received orders for serious power cuts. I warned people that there was a problem,» said Vitalii Kim.
The city and region currently have four hours of electricity per day, but locals should prepare for the worst-case scenario, when electricity will be supplied for two hours.
«Today is a day (22 January is Unity Day in Ukraine, — note) when we need to unite, even when things are bad, and help others. So that there is no anger, but respect for ourselves. Currently, there are about four hours of light per day. It was 8:53 a.m. Now there are 12 queues, that is, 6 queues with 2 sub-queues each. And there is an instruction to cut off 10 queues. I believe that we need to prepare for the worst-case scenario of 2 hours of electricity per day,» he added.
When asked by the host about the current situation with heat and gas supply, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration explained that there is voltage in the networks, but in some areas it is not enough to operate the pumps, which is why backup generators have to be started up in boiler rooms. Currently, heat and water supply in Mykolaiv are functioning, albeit with interruptions.
«There is a problem with private boiler rooms on roofs and wells that provide water to some condominiums. This is a problem, and we cannot solve it for them. The overall picture, thank God, is that there is heat in Mykolaiv, and we are supplying water. Water distribution points are operating intermittently because they are tied to schedules. According to the forecast, we will have above-zero temperatures in a few days, and the situation will stabilise. There is heat, there is gas, but the electricity situation is bad, but we have to be patient because in some places it is even worse,» he stressed.
In addition, Mykolaiv will send repair crews and backup generators to Kyiv, where the situation with energy and heat supply is more complicated, said Vitalii Kim. In addition, the region is preparing for the possible arrival of evacuees from other regions — issues of accommodation and hot meals are being worked out.
«This is not the time to complain. We need to unite and help each other. We are not in the worst situation, but we are united with the whole of Ukraine,» the head of the regional state administration concluded.
Although yesterday, the deputy mayor of Mykolaiv, Vitalii Lukov, stated that there are currently no spare generators in the city that could be sent to Kyiv.
It should be noted that on the morning of 22 January, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, apologised to the residents of Mykolaiv for the frequent power outages and noted that it is currently impossible to influence the situation.
