In Mykolaiv, some CCTV cameras are not working or are not recording continuously due to power cuts and technical malfunctions.

This became known during a staff meeting of the Mykolaiv City Council on Monday, 2 February, according to NikVesti.

A total of 701 cameras have been installed in the city. Of these, 341 cameras are currently not recording continuously due to power outages. Two more cameras are temporarily not displayed in the system, and five robotic cameras have broken down due to the cold weather.

Andrii Volkov told NikVesti that due to power outages, video recording is irregular: employees record information on a specific date, but the stability of the system depends on power outage schedules.

It should be noted that over the five years of construction of the Safe City information and telecommunications video surveillance and video analytics system, 60.7 million hryvnias were spent from the budget.

As part of its implementation, 455 video surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the city (the total number of cameras in the city is 700). Of these, 359 cameras are designed to recognise vehicle licence plates, and another 96 are surveillance cameras.
