The municipal enterprise Mykolaiv Parks plans to grow flowers in its own greenhouses and subsequently plant them in the city’s flower beds. This idea was inspired by the experience of other cities, notably Kremenchuk.

This was revealed by the director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaiv Parks, Dmytro Chuchmai, during a conversation with Mykolaiv activist Dmytro Riabchenko, according to NikVesti.

Dmytro Riabchenko asked what further development plans the company has and whether they plan to expand their activities.

«Last year, we were on a business trip to Kremenchuk. There, the municipal enterprise, just like ours, has greenhouses where they grow flowers. We looked into this initiative, supported it, and hope that we will be able to implement something similar in our city,» said Dmytro Chuchmai.

«It’s a good idea. Mykolaiv used to be full of flowers, not just roses; there were flower beds,» said Dmytro Riabchenko.

The company director also added that the municipal enterprise is currently carrying out other tasks, and new projects require funding.

«I can only tell you what we’re currently working on. That is the removal of illegally installed street stalls in the city. We’re actively working on this at the moment. In addition, there are development plans that form part of the company’s strategy. But there’s no point in announcing them yet, as this also requires funding,» noted Dmytro Chuchmai.

It should be noted that the greenhouse and hothouse operations of the Sviatoshynskyi District Municipal Enterprise in Kyiv plan to grow almost 217,000 units of floral produce this year. All work is carried out exclusively by the company’s own specialists.

Earlier, Dmytro Chuchmai stated that trees could not be planted in Mykolaiv this spring due to a lack of funding. The relevant expenditure had been planned, but the enterprise was not allocated funds from the city budget.

In March, Mykhailo Talpa, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and Information Technology at the Mykolaiv Thermal Power Plant, and Dmytro Chuchmai, Director of the municipal enterprise Mykolaiv Parks, shared Mykolaiv’s experience in maintaining green spaces with their counterparts in the capital.

It should be noted that for Mykolaiv, the issue of greening is becoming more acute every year, as thousands of trees are felled annually. Millions of hryvnias are spent on maintaining green spaces, yet residents are complaining en masse about diseased and damaged trees in parks and squares. Most residents are dissatisfied with the quality of green spaces and public areas.
