A new bus route, No. 49, will be launched in Mykolaiv on 18 May. It will run from the Shyroka Balka neighbourhood to the «old» railway station.
This decision was approved today, 13 May, by the executive committee, according to NikVesti.
Deputy Mayor Yurii Andriienko noted that residents of Shyroka Balka had frequently raised the issue of introducing municipal transport to the neighbourhood.
«We have received many requests from residents of the Shyroka Balka neighbourhood on this matter, as they are currently almost entirely unserved by public transport. We now have the opportunity to establish this route: to deploy new public transport buses and operate them temporarily as a municipal enterprise,» explained Yurii Andriienko.
Route No. 49 will run from Shiroka Balka to the «Mykolaiv-Vantazhnyi» station: Oranzhereina Street, Prybuzka Street, Bohoiavlenskyi Avenue, Pohranychna Street, and Pryvokzalna Square. The draft decision of the executive committee states that six buses are planned to operate on the route. They will run from 6 am to 10 pm.
The municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» will act as the temporary operator until the tender is held.
Tenders for transport services are to be held for routes №49, as well as №46 (Victory Square — Cemetery (military unit)) and №48 (4 Ihor Bedzai Street — Cemetery). As Yurii Andriienko explained, these are temporary routes to cemeteries for the duration of the memorial days
«They operate for one month a year, but the Antimonopoly Committee requires that a tender be held and a winner selected regardless,» noted Yurii Andriienko.
As a reminder, a new trolleybus route №14 was launched in Mykolaiv at the end of April, which will run along the route «Mykolaiv-Vantazhnyi — Kazarskyi Street».
