In Mykolaiv, there are plans to repair the second section of the road leading to the Matviiv Cemetery, which runs through the territory of the Kostiantynivka community. To this end, the local village council has authorised the preparation of documents to officially demarcate the boundaries of the land plot on which the road is situated.

The deputies adopted the relevant decision on 20 October, according to a document available to NikVesti.

The plot in question covers an area of approximately 0.5 hectares and is situated within the territory of the Kostiantynivka community. The Central District Administration is to draw up a land-use plan at its own expense, after which the village council must approve it.

As Oleksandr Bereza, head of the Central District administration, explained in a comment to NikVesti, the work on constructing the road to the cemetery has been divided into three sections. The first section, which runs within the boundaries of Mykolaiv, has already been repaired. The city is now in the process of preparing the paperwork for the repair of the next section.

«If we were to divide the whole project into three parts, the first would be the section that ran through the city. We’ve already completed that. The second is, in fact, the road itself. We are currently commissioning a land-use plan, drawing it up and submitting it to the local community,» explained Oleksandr Bereza.

According to him, following this, the Kostiantynivka Village Council must formally register the plot of land and assign it a cadastral number. Next, the councillors will need to pass another resolution allowing the Central District administration to act as the contracting authority for the repair works.

At the same time, it is not yet known who will be responsible for maintaining the road in future, in particular for clearing snow from it in winter. This issue must also be agreed between the local communities.

Oleksandr Bereza noted that the repairs will depend on how quickly the paperwork can be finalised and the necessary decisions obtained from the village council. He did not specify a date for the start of the works.

A separate issue remains regarding the construction of a turning area for public transport near the cemetery. The land required for this is currently leased.

As previously reported by NikVesti, the Mykolaiv budget for 2026 allocated nearly 4 million hryvnias for the repair of approximately 450 metres of road leading to the Matviivske cemetery.

In August, repairs to this section of the road were completed. However, another section, which runs through the territory of the Kostiantynivka community from the direction of the village of Balovne, remains an unpaved track. The city could not commence work there without the relevant decisions from the village council.

The issue of road repairs was repeatedly raised by the families of fallen Ukrainian soldiers buried in the Avenue of Glory at the Matviivske Cemetery. It was their appeals that provided one of the impetuses for the work to go ahead.
