On Sunday, May 5, Christians of the Eastern rite celebrate Easter or the Resurrection of Christ.

Since the very morning, queues of believers who have come to consecrate Easter baskets can be observed near the churches in Mykolaiv, reports the correspondent of NikVesti.

In particular, hundreds of people were waiting for a religious ceremony near the Cathedral of the Kashperiv Icon of the Mother of God.

During the resurrection service, the townspeople also remembered the soldiers who are currently on the front lines defending Ukraine. Paskas were specially consecrated for them, which later should be sent to the military.

Restrictions during Easter in Mykolaiv

It was previously reported that the duration of the curfew will not be reduced in the Mykolaiv region on the Easter holiday. However, residents of the region were urged to refrain from visiting temples.

At the same time, the head of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police, Maksym Akhramieiev, said that the police will monitor compliance with the rules and conduct preventive talks with violators on Easter. 23,000 police officers will maintain order on this day.

How Easter was celebrated in Mykolaiv before

We will remind you how in 2023, Mykolaiv residents consecrated Easter baskets in the city's churches.

Also, in 2022, Orthodox Christians celebrated Easter without a large crowd of people.

Earlier it was reported that in 2020 the churches of Mykolaiv were not overcrowded for divine services. During the night service around the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos there were about 100 people.
