The administration of Kherson International Airport invited those who care to participate in the demolition of rubble and cleaning of the garbage left after the liberation from the occupiers.

Those who want to help should contact the Kherson Regional Employment Center, the airport's Facebook page said.

Kherson International Airport in the village of Chornobayivka was destroyed during the Russian occupation. On April 10, the airport administration published a photo of the current state of the passenger terminal.

«Airport today! We looked at the windows of the terminal. They are still in place, but without glass, the remains of the soft aluminum alloy frames are deformed and under rubble,» the post reads.

As you know, the territory of Kherson airport was captured by the Russians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The Russian army tried to use this place as a springboard for further attacks on other regions of Ukraine. On its territory, the occupiers placed military equipment, stored shells and ammunition there.

On their way out, the Russians blew up several places that had been set up for the military, leaving behind destroyed buildings, equipment and ammunition.

It will be recalled that in 2018 the Kherson airport administration planned to increase passenger traffic to 450,000 people by 2023. For this, they planned to modernize the airport infrastructure.

Kherson Airport was included in the State Target Program for the Development of Airports. In September 2022, it closed for reconstruction. The airport was planned to open before the new year.
