The mayor of Voznesensk refused to comment on the city's participation in the UN program, because NikVesti showed his declaration: «I really didn't like it»

The mayor of Voznesensk, Yevhenii Velychko, refused to NikVesti to comment on the city's participation in the UN Development Program, as the editors showed his income declaration last year.

NikVesti published the audio recording of the conversation with the mayor on its YouTube channel.

As you know, Voznesensk was supposed to receive grant funds for reconstruction within the framework of the UN Development Program. A total of 18 communities in Ukraine and Moldova were selected, which were to receive funds for the restoration of the urban environment. Funding was provided in two directions: «Immediate response and recovery» (grant size for each proposal — from 30 thousand to 50 thousand euros, co-financing is not required) and «Reconstruction and planning for the future» (grant size for each proposal — from 70 thousand to 100 thousands of euros, co-financing of at least 20% is required.

On April 10, NikVesti tried to get Yevhenii Velychko's comment and find out how much money the city received under this program and what projects will be implemented.

«And on what question? Tell me again, what did you want?» asked Yevhenii Velychko.

«There are several questions. Regarding the UN Development Program and Voznesensk's participation in this program,» the journalist answered.

After that, the mayor once again specified which newspaper journalist had contacted him. And after hearing the answer of NikVesti, he refused to give the publication a comment, calling it a «yellow press» and expressing his dissatisfaction with the publication of his declaration on the publication's website.

«So you are trying to write down something about us. Why should I show anything else? You do a great job as a tabloid. Why do you need our comment?» said Yevhenii Velychko.

«A good review of our publication. And why do you think so?» answered the journalist.

«Well, I saw that you wrote about my declaration there, if I'm not mistaken. It was written in a bad tone. I really didn't like it. You wrote not only about me, but also about some of my colleagues,» explained the mayor of Voznesensk.

«We covered all officials of our region and city. They were writing a fact sheet,» answered the journalist.

«I am very grateful for what you wrote about the officials, but I really didn't like the last thing you wrote. Therefore, please, I do not have the opportunity to give you any comment, okay?» said the mayor.

The journalist tried to ask Yevhenii Velychko a clarifying question, whether he finally refuses to comment to the publication, but at the beginning of the question he hung up.

Previously, NikVesti wrote that the mayor of Voznesensk, Yevhenii Velychko , submitted a declaration on income and property for 2023. During this time, he received 515 thousand hryvnias in salary, on average it is 42.9 thousand hryvnias.
