Since the beginning of 2024, 10,000 male and female patients in the Mykolaiv region have already undergone a free examination for the early diagnosis of neoplasms. These are mammography, gastroscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy and colonoscopy.

This was reported in the National Health Service.

It is noted that these studies are a priority in the Medical Guarantee Program. Their cost is paid by the National Health Service to a medical institution that has a relevant contract. In total, since the beginning of the year, the NSHU has paid more than 4 million hryvnias to medical institutions of the Mykolaiv Oblast for examinations.

How to do a free examination?

In order to undergo a free examination, it is necessary to receive an electronic referral from a family or treating doctor. The doctor should refer the patient for examination if there are risks of neoplasms:

  • mammography, colonoscopy — age 40 and over;
  • cystoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, hysteroscopy, bronchoscopy - from 50 years.

Within the packages, the patient is guaranteed free of charge:

  • doctor's consultation before the study in order to identify contraindications or other important aspects;
  • analysis of previously conducted studies (if available);
  • actual examination (mammography, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy or esophagogastroduodenoscopy);
  • conducting a biopsy (if necessary);
  • local or general anesthesia during hysteroscopy, bronchoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, and cystoscopy, as well as consultation of an anesthesiologist before anesthesia provision;
  • providing a conclusion on the results of endoscopic studies;
  • providing a description of histological and cytological studies (in the case of taking a biopsy);
  • a description of the results of the radiologist's research;
  • provision of examination results on film and/or recording on digital media of patients (optional).

It is possible to undergo a study free of charge in both communal and private medical institutions that have signed a contract with the National Health Service for the relevant service.

Patients who do not meet the age criteria, but have a referral from a doctor, can receive the service free of charge under the «Prevention, diagnosis, observation and treatment in outpatient conditions» package.

You can find the addresses and telephone numbers of institutions with contracts with the NHSU on the dashboard «Concluded contracts for medical care of the population under the medical guarantee program».

As a reminder, in 2024, the National Health Service of Ukraine concluded a contract for the «Medical assistance for acute cerebral stroke» package with nine medical institutions of the Mykolaiv region.
