Ukraine may block Telegram if information leakage is confirmed. It is possible that the information from the messenger is released to the secret services of the Russian Federation.
Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, head of the Committee on Freedom of Speech of the Verkhovna Rada , announced this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
As the deputy said, «probably, there is some kind of control over Telegram by Russia, and we have no guarantee that all the information of individual people there is under protection and is not released to the secret services of the Russian Federation.»
«Do we have a 100% guarantee that Durov is the owner of Telegram? According to him, yes. And he, in fact, does not say much. In addition, there is no information that Durov gave up his Russian passport. He is now a citizen of the UAE, but this does not imply renunciation of Russian citizenship,» said Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.
According to him, the stories when Telegram blocks things that are not in favor of Russia demonstrate that the communication of the founder of the company, Pavel Durov, with the Putin regime may have remained. As for specific paths to sanctions against Telegram, there is a whole path to go.
«That is, fixing the problems, fixing the fact that the network is not working, fixing the challenges we face for national security, issuing the National Security Council, the decision of the National Security Council, the presidential decree, implementing the presidential decree. Does this card stay on the table? So. Can it be used? Yes, if any blow to our information security will be very painful,» Yaroslav Yurchyshyn added.
We will remind, earlier in Ukrainian intelligence it was recognized that Telegram contains a number of threats to the security of Ukraine, and it is necessary to look for ways to solve this problem.
Earlier it was reported that unknown people created a fake channel of the Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov in Telegram, where they collect information from Ukrainians.
