Temperature records of Ukraine on July 11: Mykolaiv was the hottest

It was hot in various cities of Ukraine on July 11, the temperature broke its previous historical record values for that date.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the data of meteorological stations, excesses of 1-3 degrees were recorded.
This day was the hottest for Mykolaiv. 40.2°C was recorded in the city. Note that on July 10 , the thermometer reached +40.5°С.
In Kherson on July 11, it was — 39°С. In Kropyvnytskyi — 37.5°C. Vinnytsia — 36.3°С, and Odesa — 36.2°С.
It is a little cooler in the west of the country. In Lviv — 33.4°C, Uzhhorod — 34.3°C, Ternopil — 33.1°C. And in Kyiv, it was recorded — 34.2°C.
How to escape from the heat outside?
Stay in the shade. Look for shade in parks, under trees or near buildings. Use wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses.
Hydration Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty. Carry a water bottle with you. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages, which can contribute to dehydration.
Moisturizing wipes. Carry wet wipes or a small bottle of water with you to hydrate your skin. Apply them to the forehead, neck and wrists.
Plan activities. Avoid exercising during the hottest hours of the day, usually between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Plan walks or errands for the morning or evening when the temperature is cooler.
Light clothing and sun protection. Wear light, breathable clothing with long sleeves to protect your skin from direct sunlight. Also, don't forget to apply sunscreen with a high protection factor (SPF) to your skin.
By keeping these tips in mind, residents can effectively cope with the summer heat even during power outages. Remember about energy-efficient consumption and use of available resources to ensure a comfortable climate at home.
Weather in Mykolaiv
In 2023, temperature records were set twice in Mykolaiv : in January (above 15°С) and in August (up to 36°С). In January, due to unusually warm weather for this month, the first snowdrops even bloomed in the Mykolaiv Zoo.
We will remind that in the spring meteorologists of the Mykolaiv hydrometeorological center predicted that the summer of 2024 would be a traditional one in the region. Deviations from the limits of normal indicators for the summer period are not expected.
At the same time, the end of March and almost all of April this year were marked by an extraordinary heat wave. The average temperature reached a mark of 20 to 28 degrees Celsius per day. In particular, from April 8 to 10, historical temperature records were recorded in Mykolaiv. According to the data of meteorological stations in the Mykolaiv region, an excess of heat by 1-7 times higher than the daily maximum was recorded. However, according to Mykolaiv forecasters, the summer of this year will be quite ordinary.
