Law enforcement officers are investigating 28 criminal cases related to the murder of 62 Ukrainian soldiers in captivity by the Russians.

The head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in the Conditions of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office Yurii Belousov told about this in an interview with Ukrinform.

According to him, in total, more than 110 captured soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were executed already after being captured in prisons. This is, in particular, about Olenivka.

Yurii Belousov noted that the torture of Ukrainian prisoners in Russian places of detention is becoming systematic and shows that it is an integral part of Russia's policy.

The International Criminal Court is investigating these cases together with Ukrainian investigators.

«We have a separate division that deals with this area. It's only a matter of time when these persons (involved in torture - note) fall into our hands,» Yurii Belousov emphasized.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, said that the Russians are forcibly detaining more than 14,000 Ukrainian civilians. It is very difficult to return them, unlike military personnel or children.

It will be recalled that each of the more than 600 interviewed civilians or military personnel who were held captive by the Russian Federation spoke about torture and ill-treatment.
