Ukrainian swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk withdrew from the second qualification of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
This is reported by «Suspilne.Sport».
Mykhailo Romanchuk will not swim the distance of 1500 meters freestyle — during the Olympics in Tokyo, he won a silver medal at this distance. The reason is illness — the day before the start, the athlete had a fever.
Withdrawal from the 1500-meter freestyle means that Romanchuk completes his performances at the Olympic Games. Earlier, he withdrew from the distance of 400 meters, in which he fulfilled the Olympic standard. The swimmer attributed this to the desire to focus on the main species.
The only distance that Romanchuk swam at the Olympics in Paris was the 800-meter freestyle. In 2021, at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, he won «bronze» at this distance. However, he did not pass the qualification this year.
We will remind you how the Ukrainian women's fencing team reached the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympics.
