Sweden will allocate over $10 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine

The government of Sweden has approved a humanitarian aid package for Ukraine worth SEK 110 million (over $10.3 million). The support is mainly intended to meet the increased needs on the eve of winter.

This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.

In addition, the funds will also be used for demining, helping refugees and women who have suffered from sexual violence.

«Russia targeted civilian infrastructure and deprived Ukraine of a significant part of heat and electricity supply. Of course, the colder it is, the more serious the consequences. Therefore, a large part of the population experiences difficulties with heating their homes and cooking. That is why the government decided to allocate 110 million kroner to a number of humanitarian organizations in Ukraine,» says the statement of the Minister of Foreign Development and Foreign Trade of Sweden, Benjamin Dus.

The humanitarian aid package will be divided between four organizations. The Ukrainian Red Cross will receive 50 million kroner ($4.7 million), UNDP — 30 million kroner ($2.8 million), UNHCR — 20 million kroner ($1.8 million), the United Nations Population Fund — 10 million crowns (over 941 thousand dollars).

It will be recalled that Ukraine received a $3.9 billion grant from the United States through the World Bank.
