Sweden is a kingdom in Northern Europe with its capital in Stockholm. It sends Ukraine large military aid packages, including a €1.2 billion package with air defence and drones in February 2026. In May 2026 Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced that Sweden would hand over 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets, with the first expected in 2027, and earlier the two countries signed a letter of intent on buying up to 150 new Gripen E jets. In April 2026 King Carl XVI Gustaf visited Ukraine for the first time since 2008.

Sweden has become the patron country of Kherson Oblast and is rebuilding the village of Zmiivka there. It helps Mykolaiv with energy, and in 2026 the city may receive 40 M29 trams from the transport company of Gothenburg.
