Prokudin: Sweden has become a patron state for the Kherson region and plays a key role in the reconstruction of the region

Sweden, as the patron state of the Kherson region, provides assistance in the medical, administrative, educational, economic and security spheres. Joint projects are already being implemented, there is an exchange of experience, and there are plans to help demining the region.
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of Kherson RMA, announced this after meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine, Martin Oberg.
«Sweden, as the patron state of the Kherson region, plays a key role in our recovery, supporting the region at all levels. The first results of our cooperation are already visible. Kherson Regional Children's Clinical Hospital signed a memorandum with Skåne University Hospital, the largest multidisciplinary hospital in southern Sweden. Thanks to this agreement, Ukrainian and Swedish doctors will exchange experience, implement best practices and work on the modernization of the facility,» he said.
According to him, a joint conference was held and Skåne doctors conducted the first consultation for the little Kherson patient.
In addition, cooperation with the Association of Local Authorities of Sweden was discussed during the meeting. Prokudin said that SALAR helps restore access to administrative services in the de-occupied territories of the region.
«We aim to focus on the modernization of educational institutions, providing them with modern equipment and creating a safe environment for children,» said the head of the Kherson region.
Issues of deepening economic ties, involving Swedish innovations in renewable energy, agriculture and sustainable development were also raised.
«Special attention was paid to the partnership with Gotland, whose experience in the implementation of environmental and energy projects will become a model for the Kherson region,» he is confident.
In addition, demining of the region was also discussed. Today, Kherson region is especially in need of underwater demining. In particular, improving the skills of sappers and pyrotechnicians, and providing them with modern equipment for demining.
Earlier, Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa RMA, said that during a meeting with the foreign ministers of the Nordic-Baltic eight, Sweden was offered to take the Odesa region under patronage in reconstruction.
