Christmas tree baubles with miniatures of local buildings are made in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, Christmas decorations with miniature copies of city buildings are being made.

This was reported by NikVesti.

As Andrii Shynkarenko told us in a commentary, the Christmas decorations are mainly bought by people who used to live in Mykolaiv.

«We sell a limited amount, but the decorations are shipped all over the world — to Europe and the US. This year, we have already sent them to America. Our regular subscribers, as they say, saw the post and immediately ordered. Most of the buyers are former Mykolaiv residents, and they like to have a piece of their hometown on the shelf or on the Christmas tree. It's also a great gift,» says Andrii Shynkarenko.

The collection includes seven types of jewellery, each in gold or silver:

  • Yacht Club

  • Tram substation

  • Water tower and Turkish fountain

  • Mykolaiv Observatory

  • The house of naval officers

  • Transformer box

  • City girls' school

According to him, it takes about a month or two to develop one 3D model.

«My son had an idea: why not make something New Year's, but in balloons? Now we have seven different options. We determine the scale of the building, and then my son creates a three-dimensional model. Then we print it on a photopolymer printer, and additional details on a conventional printer. We buy the baubles themselves, paint them, assemble the composition, pack them up, and we have a ready-made Mykolaiv souvenir. It took my son about a month or two to develop one 3D model, provided he had a light workload at his main job. Now I look at it and think that few cities on the planet can boast of Christmas decorations themed to the city,» says Andrii Shynkarenko.

According to him, one model takes 10 to 20 hours to print. Next year, the family hopes to expand the collection to twelve models.

This year, Mykolaiv was once again left without its main Christmas tree and festive events in the city centre.
