Devastation of Cultural Infrastructure in Mykolaiv Oblast

The Mykolaiv region was on the list of regions where the largest number of cultural infrastructure objects were damaged due to Russia's war against Ukraine.
This is evidenced by the updated data of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy (MKIP).
In total, during the two years of the full-scale war, the actions of the Russians caused damage to 1,946 objects of cultural infrastructure, of which 317 (16%) were destroyed.
The greatest losses and damage to the cultural infrastructure were experienced in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv and Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions, the Ministry of Culture notes.
In general, the following were affected:
- club establishments — 933;
- libraries — 695;
- art education institutions — 151;
- museums and galleries — 113;
- theaters, cinemas and philharmonics — 38;
- parks, zoos, nature reserves — 13;
- circuses — 3.
It is noted that clubs, libraries, museums, theaters, philharmonics and art education institutions (art schools and colleges) in 277 territorial communities were destroyed. In the Mykolaiv region, cultural objects were damaged in 44% of communities.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy ordered to include 10 historical objects in Mykolaiv in the state register of immovable monuments of Ukraine.
