This was reported by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umierov.

Support from countries including Australia, Great Britain, Canadathe Netherlands, Germany, France, Poland, Sweden and others will provide Ukraine with new opportunities for the development of unmanned vehicles.

«Latvia will allocate 20 million euros this year for the coalition of drones: at least 10 million for purchases from the domestic industry, and 5 million for joint purchases within the coalition,» the minister writes.

In addition to financial assistance, Latvia also signed an agreement with Ukraine on the training of the Ukrainian military in the drone piloting program.

As noted in the message, this initiative will be an important stage in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and will allow more effective destruction of the enemy, while preserving the lives of our defenders.

It should be noted that in July of this year, the Government of Latvia sent a batch of over 500 drones to Ukraine as part of the Drone Coalition.

We will remind that on February 17, 2024, the work of the Drone Coalition, which will work within the framework of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, officially started.

Earlier it was also reported that 67 samples of Ukrainian drones that have passed admission procedures can be contracted in Ukraine. In 2022, there were only 7 of them. 200 companies related to the production of drones are registered in the country. We are talking about the ability of companies to produce drones as needed. The actual production of drones has increased «tenfold» since 2022.
