This was announced today, 9 January, by U.S. Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, opening the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at Ramstein Air Force Base.
«"I am announcing today a new $500 million assistance package», he said.
The Minister noted that the assistance will include important elements to strengthen Ukraine's defence.
As part of this aid package, Ukraine will receive additional missiles for air defence systems, as well as «air-to-ground missiles». In addition, other equipment will be provided to support Ukraine's F-16 fighter jets.
As a reminder, US President Joe Biden announced another $2.5 billion aid package for Ukraine.
