The US has dropped humanitarian aid from planes for the residents of the Gaza Strip for the first time

The United States military on Saturday, March 2, for the first time landed humanitarian aid for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

This was reported by the US Central Command.

American C-130 planes dropped food for more than 38,000 meals along the coastline of the enclave. The operation was carried out together with the Air Force of Jordan.

«We are planning potential follow-up missions to deliver amphibious aid,» the US military said.

Other countries, including Great Britain, France, Egypt and Jordan, have previously cut aid, but the US has done so for the first time, the BBC reports.

According to the newspaper, the aid was dropped after a high-ranking US official said that the framework of an agreement on a six-week ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had been determined. The White House said Israel «more or less accepted» the deal.

Reuters writes that they plan to resume negotiations on March 3. However, this will depend on whether the Palestinian group Hamas agrees to release the hostages.
