More than two thousand fires in July caused damages of ₴47 million to Mykolaiv region

In the period from July 1 to July 31, 2 thousand 298 fires broke out on the territory of the Mykolaiv region. It caused damages of more than 47 million hryvnias. Most of the fires started in open areas.

This was reported in the main office of the State Emergency Service in the Mykolaiv region in response to an informational request from NikVesti.

The largest number of fires occurred in Mykolaiv district — 1,208 cases, followed by Bashtanskyi district with 401 fires, 386 in Pervomaisky district, and 303 in Voznesenskyi district. In total, 2,298 fires were registered in the main department of the State Emergency Service.

Due to the consistently high level of fire danger, 1,669 fires with a total area of more than 2,100 hectares broke out in open areas and natural ecosystems during July. This is more than 73% of the total number of fires in the region. Five more fires were recorded in nature reserves.

Most fires occurred during smoking — 736 cases. Careless handling of fire was the reason for 658 fires, and arson for another 410. 99 fires were caused by hostilities, while 206 were caused by violations of safety rules.

In total, the fire caused damage of over 47 million hryvnias, of which over 11 million — in the residential sector, on agricultural land — 300 thousand hryvnias.
