The crime rate in Mykolaiv region has decreased by 5% thanks to the expansion of the video surveillance system as part of the «Safe City» project.

This was announced by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, during a press conference on 30 December, according to NikVesti.

«The Situation Centre is currently operating in a test mode and is not yet funded, as it was not a priority. However, as part of the «Safe City» project, we, together with other communities, have purchased additional cameras, financed the existing infrastructure, and this is already showing results. The crime rate has decreased and the crime detection rate has improved. The potential of the project is obvious.» Even a 3-5% reduction in crime is a significant indicator,» said Vitalii Kim.
