In Kherson, law enforcement officers suspect a former school principal of embezzling more than 2.4 million hryvnias in budget funds. She now faces up to 12 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in the Kherson region.

It is noted that in July and August 2022, when the city was under occupation, the 62-year-old former school leader issued orders for unjustified bonuses.

The size of the bonuses ranged from two thousand to 150 thousand hryvnias.

A forensic economic examination confirmed that the former manager's actions led to the embezzlement of more than 2.4 million hryvnias from the local budget.

«The director understood that she was committing illegal actions, but, using her official powers, she issued an order to pay bonuses. Then 44 school employees were illegally awarded bonuses in July and 12 employees in August», the statement said.

Investigators classified the suspect's actions as embezzlement of other people's property by abuse of office, committed under martial law, in a particularly large scale. The suspect faces 7 to 12 years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions for up to three years and confiscation of property.

It is noted that this is not the first time the woman has been prosecuted. In early April 2019, investigators sent an indictment to court on suspicion of corruption.

Earlier it was reported that in Kherson region, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to the director of an educational complex. The person involved in the case is accused of embezzling more than half a million hryvnias of budget funds.
