South Korea will discuss with Ukraine the return of North Korean soldiers if they decide to desert.
This was reported by the South Korean Yonhap news agency.
«The South Korean government plans to consult with Ukraine on the delivery of North Korean soldiers captured by Ukraine to the south if they demand to desert», the publication reports, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noted that Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lee Jae-wong made the statement after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that two North Korean soldiers had been captured.
«As the North Korean soldiers are our citizens under the Constitution, the government plans to hold talks with Ukraine if they demand to defect to South Korea», the spokesman said.
As a reminder, Ukraine is ready to hand over its captured soldiers to North Korea in exchange for help in releasing Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity.
