Zelenskyy commented on the scandal at the Procurement Agency: «Umierov can do everything to avoid pauses in arms supplies»

For the first time, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on the Defence Ministry's personnel scandal involving the leadership of the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA). He believes that Defence Minister Rustem Umerov can make any decision for the sake of uninterrupted arms supplies.

He said this in an interview with the Associated Press.

«We have a defence minister who clearly understands that pauses in the support of our army — from drones to air defence — will mean not only military losses, civilian losses, more strikes. He cannot make a single pause in supplies,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said when asked to comment on how the scandal would look in the eyes of Western partners.

According to him, Umierov has the right to do everything to ensure that there are no interruptions in supplies, especially if there are institutional problems with signing contracts or signals of reduced support for the Armed Forces, as «there can be no pauses in urgent decisions».

Earlier, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umierov announced large-scale personnel decisions in connection with failures in the supply of ammunition to the army. In a Facebook post, he sharply criticised the work of the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA), accusing it of political games, «leaks of» information and PR instead of real results.
