One of the most massive attacks on Mykolaiv: there are victims, the city is without electricity

Five people were injured in a Russian attack in Mykolaiv on 13 December. Critical and industrial infrastructure, as well as the private sector, were damaged.

This was reported by the head of the Mykolaiv regional military administration, Vitalii Kim.

According to him, three people were hospitalised — a 43-year-old man, a 48-year-old woman and a 16-year-old teenager. They are in moderate condition. Two more people received medical care on an outpatient basis.

Vitalii Kim noted that all critical infrastructure facilities are being switched to backup power. Overnight, settlements in Bashtanka and Mykolaiv districts, critical infrastructure facilities and electric transport in Mykolaiv lost power.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych added that it was one of the most massive attacks on Mykolaiv and the region in recent times.

As of this morning, the following measures have been taken

  • the launch of «Mykolaiv CHP» using its own cogeneration units has begun;

  • 45 of the largest district and neighbourhood boiler houses of the Utility Company «Mykolaivoblteploenergo» have been switched to generators, which provides about 85% of consumers; work on connecting other boiler houses is ongoing;

  • generators were put into operation at all major technological facilities of the Municipal Utility Company «Mykolaivvodokanal», water supply and sewage were ensured;

  • stable operation of the new main water supply system was ensured;

  • upon reaching the required technological parameters, 31 critical infrastructure facilities are planned to be powered at the CHPP;

  • a backup power supply scheme for Mykolaiv is being prepared for commissioning;

  • 200 indestructibility points were put into operation, including 37 in Mykolaiv, 73 in Bashtanka district and 90 in Mykolaiv district;

  • 38 autonomous trolleybuses, 38 buses and 221 private vehicles — a total of 297 public transport vehicles — were put on the road in Mykolaiv.

As of 09:00, there are no hourly blackout schedules in the settlements of the region with electricity supply. Restoration works are ongoing in other areas.

Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych said that traffic controllers are working at the busiest intersections of the city, as traffic lights are currently out of order. Autonomously powered facilities need to be recharged periodically.

Later, the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of war crimes.

According to law enforcement, three civilians, including a 16-year-old boy, were injured in the Russian attack in Mykolaiv. Residential buildings, vehicles, industrial and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged.

As a reminder, at night and in the early hours of 13 December, Russian troops attacked critical and industrial infrastructure in Mykolaiv and the region. As a result of the shelling, settlements in Bashtanka and Mykolaiv districts were left without electricity supply. Restoration works are currently underway.

In addition, part of Kherson region, including the city of Kherson, was cut off from electricity due to massive Russian strikes.
