The strike was carried out on the high seas, in the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine, outside the range of Ukrainian air defence systems.

The Navy stressed that the Russian Federation is grossly violating the rules of international maritime law. Such actions contradict the principles of freedom of navigation and the provisions of the San Remo Guidelines.

«The Ukrainian Navy is currently in contact with the ship's captain. If necessary, the maritime search and rescue service» is ready to provide assistance,» the statement said.

It was also added that the crew was not injured, the ship continues to move to its destination port.

As a reminder, the Turkish vessel Senk Roro caught fire in the port of Odesa after explosions on 12 December. At least one person has been reported injured. The container ship was sailing from the Turkish port of Karasu to Romania.
