Illustrative photo: novynarnia.comMykolaiv Oblast is among the regions that Russian troops have targeted most heavily with strikes on thermal and electrical power generation facilities since the start of the heating season.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to investigators, since the beginning of this year's heating season, Russian troops have carried out 256 air strikes on energy facilities and heat supply systems in Ukraine. In particular, from October 2025 to the present, the occupiers have deliberately attacked 11 hydroelectric power plants and 45 of the largest combined heat and power plants.
Russian troops also carried out 49 precision air strikes on thermal power plants and 151 strikes on power substations in various regions of the country.
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, each of these attacks was combined and carried out using dozens of strike drones and missiles.
The most strikes were recorded on thermal and electrical generation facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Chernihiv regions. The Security Service documented that ballistic and cruise missiles of the Iskander, Kalibr, Kh-101, and Kh-69 types, as well as Geran strike drones, were used against critical infrastructure.
Such strikes during a period of severe cold weather led to large-scale power and heat outages, as well as disruptions to the water supply in the homes of millions of Ukrainians.
The Security Service of Ukraine classifies Russia's systematic destruction of Ukraine's energy system as crimes against humanity under Article 442-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article defines such attacks as crimes of an international nature, for which liability is provided for in both Ukrainian and international courts.
We would like to remind you that President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting on the emergency situation in Ukraine's energy sector, during which special attention was paid to the situation in Kyiv.
