A second victim has died following a road traffic accident involving an Audi in the centre of Mykolaiv: the driver was arrested overnight

The driver of the Audi, who on 20 June crashed into a Citroën C3 near the junction of Tsentralnyi Avenue and Zakhysnykiv Mykolaiva Street, was arrested overnight. A notice of suspicion is currently being drawn up against him.

This was reported to NikVesti by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region.

It is noted that the driver of the Citroën C3 died at the scene of the accident. Two of her underage passengers were also injured. One of the girls died in hospital. The Audi driver was unharmed.

According to readers of NikVesti, the Audi driver was likely under the influence of alcohol.

The incident has been provisionally classified under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine «Violation of road safety rules by a person driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other intoxicating substances, resulting in the death of the victim».

The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of between five and ten years, with disqualification from driving for the same period.

As a reminder, in Mykolaiv, patrol officers found the driver who caused a road traffic accident on 14 June on Lazurna Street. A VAZ crashed into a parked Hyundai Tucson. A minor was behind the wheel.
