The court arrested without bail a man suspected of abducting an 8-year-old girl in Mykolaiv Oblast

The Central District Court took into custody a man who was detained in the Bereznehuvate community the other day on suspicion of kidnapping an 8-year-old girl.

The 50-year-old man is charged with part 2 of Article 146 (Illegal deprivation of liberty or abduction of a minor child).

According to the petition materials, the suspect lived in one of the villages of the Bereznehuvate community for some time. After a conflict with his roommate, who, due to his excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, forbade him to live on the territory of his household, the latter threatened to kidnap her 8-year-old granddaughter.

According to law enforcement officers, on the evening of March 1, 2024, the suspect, while staying near the house of his former roommate, saw her granddaughter, who went into the kitchen, then he entered there, grabbed the child and carried her to a dugout he had equipped outside the village.

At the court hearing, the suspect admitted his guilt in full, said that he could not explain the motives of his actions, because he was in a state of alcohol intoxication, did not object to the satisfaction of the request. The defender supported the position of his client.

According to the results of the investigation, the investigating judge decided to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of making bail against the suspect.

It will be recalled that the child disappeared from the house in the village of Lepetyha on the evening of March 1. The police were informed about this incident the next morning. Dog handlers and military personnel joined the search for the girl. On the same day , the man was arrested after finding his hiding place underground. During the interrogation, the detainee told the law enforcement officers that he had stolen the child from the house and carried it in his arms to a hole he had dug near the airfield.
