The State Audit Service is seeking a court order to recover nearly ₴200 million from «Mykolaivelectrotrans»

The Mykolaiv District Administrative Court has opened proceedings on a claim brought by the Southern Office of the State Audit Service against «Mykolaivelektrotrans», seeking to recover over 196 million hryvnias from the company.

This is evidenced by a court ruling dated 1 July, according to NikVesti.

The case concerns possible professional negligence on the part of officials at «Mykolaivelektrotrans», which, according to the investigation, could have led to the misappropriation of 196.8 million hryvnias of public funds during the compensation of passenger transport by trams and trolleybuses in 2022–2025, as reported by NikVesti back in May.

Under the agreement between Mykolaiv City Council and the company, the city was to compensate for the difference between the actual cost of transport services and the operator’s own revenue. However, investigators believe that the company’s own revenue from ticket sales and other commercial activities was not taken into account in the calculations, resulting in an overpayment of 196.8 million hryvnias from the city budget, according to preliminary estimates.

The district court’s ruling does not specify any details of the case. A preparatory hearing has been scheduled for 3 August. The case will be heard by Judge Nataliia Lisovska.

As a reminder, residents of Mykolaiv had previously complained about ‘dead’ routes operated by «Mykolaivelektrotrans».
