Following the implementation of a project funded by Denmark, Bashtanka Town Council plans to reduce water losses in the water supply system. According to preliminary estimates, the project will take almost two years from the signing of the contract to the commissioning of the system.

This is stated in the Bashtanka Town Council’s response to an information request from NikVesti.

The response states that the total estimated cost of the project to restore water supply and wastewater treatment in Bashtanka, which will be funded by Denmark through the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), is €6.06 million: €5.5 million in grant funding and €560,000 in co-financing from the local budget. However, the Bashtanka Town Council did not specify whether the co-financing has already been allocated in the budget.

Another component involves the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a new water pipeline from two water pumping stations. In addition, there are plans to implement a comprehensive programme to reduce water losses in the water supply system.

Preliminary project completion dates have been announced.

«Provided that the detailed design is completed on time and the necessary permits are obtained, the project is expected to take 28 months from the signing of the contract to commissioning,» the response to the enquiry states.
