On October 1, to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Alley of Glory was solemnly opened in Mykolaiv in memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers. Banners with portraits of about 600 fallen Heroes were installed near the destroyed building of Mykolaiv RMA.
This was reported by the correspondent NikVesti.
Alley of Glory was created by relatives of fallen soldiers. The organizers said that it will be gradually supplemented with new banners.
«This is all at the initiative of the families of the victims. Banners were made for us at the «Litopys» printing house for free. We were charged 50% for metal structures. The vases were brought to us by volunteers. Let the families not be upset, those who have not found their relatives, let them come and provide us with information, and we will make banners,» said the mother of the fallen soldier Viktoriia Matiienko.
Anton Tabunshchyk, the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, was present at the ceremonial opening of the Alley of Glory. He thanked the families of the fallen soldiers. After that, the memory of the Heroes was honored with a moment of silence and flowers were placed at the memorial.
«Great respect to the parents of the heroes, an earthly bow for your strength and power, for your resilience. There will certainly be a victory ahead, and we will look to the bright future, and for now we will once again remember those who are not with us today,» said Anton Tabunshchyk.
