On Friday, 24 January, the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House in Mykolaiv was officially opened.
This was reported by a correspondent of NikVesti.
According to the director of the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House, Julie Arnfred Boyesen, the space has been in the works for a year.
«Speaking of human potential and youth. We started the work of the Mykolaiv office a year ago. And we saw how many motivated, good people there are who are really ready to change the city for the better,» says the director.
The official opening was also attended by the Danish Ambassador to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen. He noted that supporting youth initiatives is an important part of cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark.
«Over the past three years, I have often visited Mykolaiv and met many young people here, and they all told me the same story: they wanted to have their own youth space... And I am very happy that this day has finally come. We have this wonderful youth house full of young people!», Ole Egberg Mikkelsen said.
Daria Frych-Alchina, manager of the youth centre, said that thanks to cooperation with Denmark, they organise exchange projects for young people.
«In 2024, there were two exchange projects to Denmark, and this year we are planning at least six exchange trips to Denmark. We also want Danes to come to Ukraine, either to Mykolaiv or to the western part of the country. Our participants who have been on international programmes say that the Danes are interested in us, and we are also very interested in learning about their lives», says the manager of the youth centre.
The young people of Mykolaiv say that they want to hold leadership and management projects, watch and discuss films, and organise literary evenings in the space.
