The tape «20 Days in Mariupol» by Mstislav Chernov won the «Best Documentary Film» nomination of the BAFTA award.
This is stated on the website of the award.
Mstislav Chernov, as well as producer Vasylisa Stepanenko, who, together with Chernov and photojournalist Yevhen Malolietka, worked in besieged Mariupol in 2022, went up on stage for the award.
In addition, film producers Michelle Mizner and Renee Aronson-Rath were on stage.
The film was also nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. However, Jonathan Glazer's «Zone of Interest» won in this category — it will be released in Ukrainian cinemas on February 22. The same film received awards in the nominations «Best Sound» and «Best British Film».
The BAFTA Film Awards are an annual award presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. This is the British equivalent of «Oscar».
However, «20 Days in Mariupol» was also nominated for the «Oscar» award as «Best Documentary». The award ceremony will take place on the night of March 11.
