President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is committed to ending the war this year, but that the main priority remains achieving a just and lasting peace.
He expressed this opinion during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
As you know, US President Donald Trump said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was ready for a deal to end the war.
«Trump told me and then spoke about it publicly. He will do everything to end the war this year. I told him that we are your partner. We are in this war, we know all the sore spots. We understand how painful it is for us, we have lost our people, this is the biggest loss for us. We want to end the war this year, but not just quickly, but fairly and, above all, reliably for all of us, for Ukrainians. We want them to return home, live in safety and work. I think this is the most important thing. At least we will do everything for this», Zelenskyy said.
As a reminder, David Arakhamiia, head of the Servant of the People «parliamentary faction, said that Ukraine's talks with Donald Trump's team could take place in early February during «Ukrainian Week» in Washington.
Trump's inauguration: what is known
On Monday, 20 January, Donald Trump, who won the presidential election again in November, was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. The inauguration took place at noon in the Capitol Rotunda.
It is noted that Donald Trump used Abraham Lincoln's Bible to take the oath. This Bible was used by Lincoln during his swearing-in ceremony in 1861. J.D. Vance, the new Vice President of the United States, also took the oath before that.
Donald Trump became the second American president in history to serve two consecutive terms in office. In addition, by the end of his second term, he will be 82 years old, making him the oldest US president in history.
