«We strongly condemn Russia's involvement of Chinese citizens in the war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as their participation in hostilities against Ukrainian forces. We have summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China in Ukraine to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to condemn this fact and demand explanations», the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.

Sybiha stressed that the Chinese fighting in the Russian army call into question China's proclaimed position on peace and undermine Beijing's authority.

«Chinese citizens who are fighting as part of the Russian army invading Ukraine call into question China's proclaimed position on peace and undermine Beijing's authority as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council», said Andrii Sybiha.

As a reminder, on 8 April, the Ukrainian military captured two Chinese citizens who had fought in the Russian army.
