Peskov: Russia is waiting for a signal from Ukraine to resume direct talks

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitrii Peskov has said that Russia expects Ukraine to signal its readiness for direct talks.

He said this at a briefing for journalists, according to the Russian media outlet «RIA Novosti».

According to him, Moscow currently sees no steps in this direction from Kyiv.

«Russia is ready to start negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions», said Dmitrii Peskov.

Earlier, the Kremlin reported that Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with US Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff, confirmed his readiness to hold talks with Ukraine without preconditions.

It was also reported that US President Donald Trump expressed disappointment over the Russian missile strike on Kyiv and said he was not sure about Vladimir Putin's readiness to end the war.
