Illustrative photo: UNIANPresident Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the trilateral talks with Russia and the United States, which were planned to take place in Turkey on Tuesday and Wednesday, have been postponed until next week at the initiative of the American side.
The president said this while answering journalists' questions online, according to European Truth.
According to the head of state, the reason for the postponement is the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. Zelenskyy added that the Ukrainian side was ready for the meeting and that daily contacts with American colleagues are continuing, so the final date of the talks is still being agreed upon.
«We were ready to go to Turkey. We postponed this meeting. It was the American side that postponed it, saying, 'Let's do it next week'. This is the information we have today,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to him, the meeting may take place in Switzerland or Turkey.
«As for the topics for discussion, they are all the same, but I think the main topic is to agree on continuing the exchanges and to agree on a meeting between the leaders, because further, especially with regard to the territories, I do not see any results without the leaders,» said the president.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is ready to end the war with Ukraine, and that the main obstacle to peace talks is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
