«We are continuing our active Ukrainian diplomacy for the sake of real security and economic cooperation. Important meetings lie ahead – several substantive formats have been prepared. Every nation, every region deserves a peaceful life,» said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is expected that a trilateral meeting will take place during the visit, involving the President of Ukraine, Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa and Syrian Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The Turkish agency Anadolu reported this earlier.

According to Reuters sources, talks between Zelenskyy and al-Sharaa will focus, in particular, on defence issues against the backdrop of the war in the Middle East.

It was previously reported that Syria plans to issue new banknotes, removing two zeros from the national currency in order to «restore public confidence in the sharply devalued pound». They will be printed by the Russian state-owned company Goznak.
