Trump has responded to Prince Harry’s call regarding Ukraine. Photo: Getty ImagesUS President Donald Trump has responded to Prince Harry’s public appeal to Washington to take a firmer stance on the war in Ukraine.
He made the comments whilst speaking to journalists, according to the Kyiv Independent.
«Prince Harry — how is he doing? Please pass on my regards to him. I know one thing: Prince Harry does not speak on behalf of the UK, that’s for sure. I think I speak on behalf of the UK more than Prince Harry does, but I appreciate his advice,» said Donald Trump.
The day before, the Duke of Sussex spoke at the Kyiv Security Forum and called on the US to take a more active stance.
«The United States plays an exceptional role in this story. Not only because of its power, but also because, when Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons, America became part of the guarantee that Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders would be respected,» Prince Harry emphasised.
He also called on Washington to act more decisively, describing the current moment as «a time for American leadership» and the fulfilment of international obligations.
It is worth recalling that on 23 April, Prince Harry arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. Through his visit, he sought to remind people around the world of what Ukrainians have faced, as well as to support those carrying out «extraordinary work in incredibly difficult conditions».
