On their second attempt, members of the Mykolaiv City Council dismissed Hanna Montavon from the supervisory board of «Mykolaivvodokanal». She had submitted her resignation back in September, but as the councillors did not support the decision, she continued to receive her salary.

The decision was passed today, 29 October, during a session of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

Dmytro Novytskyi, president of the Ukrainian Association of Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises «Ukrvodokanalekolohiia», has been appointed to the supervisory board to replace Hanna Montavon.

During the discussion, City Council Secretary Dmytro Falko reminded those present that this issue had already been considered at a previous session, but at that time the councillors had not supported the dismissal.

«Colleagues, we have already considered this draft resolution with you at the previous session and did not support it. Dmytro Yuriiovych was present at the previous session; he reported, gave a presentation and introduced himself,» he said.

Dmytro Falko also reported that Hanna Montavon continues to receive her salary, although, according to him, she is in fact no longer performing her duties.

«I would like to point out, for the record, that members of our supervisory board are remunerated. And, accordingly, as long as our employment relationship with Ms Montavon has not been terminated, we continue to pay her, although, as I understand it, she has effectively stepped aside from her duties,» noted Dmytro Falko.

Following this, councillor Olena Kiselova asked:

— Are you guys dumb?

— I hope not all of you, and I certainly hope not me, — replied Dmytro Falko.

In the end, the councillors supported the dismissal of Hanna Montavon and the appointment of Dmytro Novytskyi. Twenty-nine councillors voted in favour of the decision, none voted against, and four abstained.

It should be recalled that on 10 September, Hanna Montavon submitted her resignation from the supervisory board of «Mykolaivvodokanal». One of the reasons she cited was the requirement to declare her income and assets, which, she said, posed a risk to her family’s privacy.

Subsequently, the mayor, Oleksandr Sienkevych, proposed appointing Dmytro Novytskyi in her place. However, the relevant committee did not support his candidacy, as councillors wished to speak to him in person first.

During the session on 24 September, councillors spent nearly an hour discussing Hanna Montavon’s resignation. Some councillors demanded an explanation for her decision and a review of the supervisory board’s performance. In particular, 21 councillors supported a motion to deem her work unsatisfactory; however, there were not enough votes to pass this amendment.
