Chinese leader Xi Jinping supported French President Emmanuel Macron's initiative on the Olympic truce.

For his part, Macron welcomed his colleague's willingness «to appeal to all interested parties for an Olympic truce during the upcoming Games,» reports Le Monde.

«We believe together that this initiative can be an opportunity to work on a solid settlement in full compliance with international law,» the French president said.

Earlier, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, announced his initiative to cease fire in the main conflicts that are ongoing in the world, including the war in Ukraine, during the Olympic Games, and he is counting on the assistance of various partners in this, in particular, the leader of China.
