A sister city from Denmark has appeared in Snihurivka

The Snihurivka community has officially become a partner of the Danish municipality of Gentofte. A declaration of cooperation was signed by representatives of the community and a delegation from Denmark led by Mayor Michael Fenger.

As noted by the Association of Ukrainian Cities, the document provides for cooperation in the areas of municipal management, education, utilities, security and civil protection. Danish partners will share their experience, and representatives of Snihurivka will be able to undergo training in Denmark as part of the TIPS4UA 2026 programme.

Ivan Kukhta, head of the Snihurivka RMA, noted that such cooperation opens up new opportunities for the community to develop and implement European management standards.

«This document has cemented our municipal partnership, aimed at strengthening unity and solidarity between communities, and has defined a common goal — the exchange of values, culture and practical experience. The declaration provides for cooperation and exchange of knowledge in the areas of municipal management, education, provision of public services, citizen safety and emergency preparedness,» he said.

During their visit, the guests from Denmark learned about how the city lives after de-occupation and under martial law. As a sign of solidarity, the flag of Gentofte was solemnly raised next to the Ukrainian flag in the central square of Snigurivka.

Earlier it was reported that one of the new streets in Copenhagen will be named after Mykolaiv — Mykolajivgade. It will appear in the Nordhavn district of Østerbro, where a new street network is currently being formed.
