In a high-rise building in Mykolaiv, a heating pipe burst, water froze, flowing down the facade: rescuers had to be called to cut the ice

On January 9, a heating pipe burst in a high-rise building at 71 Kosmonavtiv Street in Mykolaiv. Water flooded the roof of the building and the facade, blocks of ice formed on the walls of the building from the 5th to the 1st floor.

This is stated in the appeal of the residents of the building on the page of the contact center of the Mykolaiv City Council, NikVesti writes .

«There is just a mountain of frozen water on the air conditioners on the 5th and 4th floors. On the 5th floor, the entire balcony was flooded,» the message reads.

The residents of the building appealed to the management company «City for People» with a request to remove the ice. Residents are worried that with the onset of positive temperatures, the house may flood.

«Questions to the management company «City for People», who will compensate for the damage and when will someone remove this ice????? Especially inside on the roof??? There will be a positive temperature that will flood everyone from the 5th to the 1st floor. When will these globs be removed from the balconies?? Will you wait until someone is nailed by them?» write residents.

In a comment to NikVesti, the managing company «City for People» explained that the pipe burst occurred as a result of unauthorized intervention of residents in the heating system of the house.

«Inhabitants of the upper floors, whose apartments are not warm enough, decided to install a light flow of the coolant. On the utility floor, they attached a hose to the relief valve used to vent the system and led it through the roof to the outside rainwater pipe. Several such hoses were stretched across the roof. With the onset of frost, the hoses froze and broke, as a result of which water began to seep from the roof down the facade of the building,» CFP said.

On January 10, the company repaired the breakdown and restored the heating in the house, but the company was unable to remove the frost on the outer wall of the house on its own. As of January 11, the ice was still removed, for this the management company had to involve specialists of the State Emergency Service.

«It was not possible to remove the frost on the outer wall of the house in the company, because this requires special equipment. Therefore, on the morning of January 11, 2024, the company turned to the State Emergency Service for help. «Rescuers cut the frozen layers of ice with the use of a truck tower,» CFP reported.

We remind, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, believes that the problems with the start of heat, which the subscribers of «Mykolaiv CHP» encountered at the beginning of the heating season of 2023-2024, will only worsen in the coming years.

Earlier, it was reported that in Mykolaiv, Sienkevych's task of transitioning the social sphere to autonomous heating has not yet been fulfilled.

Numerous gusts of CHP networks are connected, in particular, with the fact that last heating season the enterprise used salty water from the estuary, which accelerates the corrosion of already outdated pipes. In contrast to this, purified water from wells was poured into «Mykolaivovoblteploenerho», as NikVesti wrote in the article «Winter is near: What will the heating season be like in Mykolaiv?». Thus, the start of both heating seasons began without disruptions and significant accidents in the houses served by the regional heat and power utility.
