The Ministry of Education of Ukraine stated that there is no conflict regarding the joining of the Mykolaiv Pedagogical University to the Shipbuilding University.
This was written by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.
The other day, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine held a meeting with the rector of Mykolaiv Sukhomlynskyi National University by Valerii Budak, at which the issue of unification of Mykolaiv universities was discussed. In particular, it was decided that the pedagogical institute will be preserved in the newly established university.
«In the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, a meeting was held with Valery Budak (rector of the Mykolaiv Sukhomlynskyi National University — note) — a person who devoted his whole life to the Mykolaiv Sukhomlynskyi National University. Now, in accordance with the order of the CMU, this institution will be attached to the National Shipbuilding University. At the same time, the pedagogical institute will definitely remain in the newly established university. Modern realities require difficult solutions, but they can be found — for the good of the region and the state as a whole,» wrote Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.
Commenting on the online discussion on the Ministry of Education and Culture's initiative to unify universities, Mykhailo Vynnytskyi emphasized that some conflicts are created artificially, and the goal of the reforms is to strengthen the country's educational system.
«Now a lot is being written and discussed about the initiatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture in the direction of university unification, modernization of the network of higher education institutions. «They often look for (and stir up) conflicts where there really aren't any,» he noted.
As you know, on January 5, information was published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine about the intention to merge the Mykolaiv National University named after V. O. Sukhomlynskyi with the Shipbuilding University. Subsequently, it was planned to create a multi-disciplinary University of Shipbuilding and Development of the South from these two institutions.
Commenting on this initiative, the rector of Admiral Makarov National Shipbuilding University Yevhen Trusliakov expressed his dissatisfaction with the proposed name of the UKRoP for the new educational institution.
In particular, he noted that the decision does not reflect the opinion and position of students and teachers of the National Shipbuilding University.
The Cabinet of Ministers supported the reorganization of two higher educational institutions in Mykolaiv without giving them the name UKRoP, which was proposed by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.
