Ukraine is proceeding with the arrangement of the second line of defense in the Kherson region.

The head of the Kherson regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported this, NikVesti writes.

He noted that after the liberation of Kherson and the right bank from the Russian occupiers, the Defense Forces began to build fortifications, equip strongpoints and construct fortifications.

Currently, they decided to build a second line of defense. Oleksandr Prokudin emphasized that such measures are being held in all frontline regions.

«We have now reached the next stage — the arrangement of the second line of defense. Similar events are held in all frontline regions, not only in Kherson region. The second stage of defense is being conducted in all the front-line regions, not only in the Kherson region, but also in the whole country,» he said.

The head of the RMA urged not to panic and assured that the construction of the second line does not mean that the Armed Forces of Ukraine is retreating from Kherson.

«For some reason, the majority of the civilian population perceives the arrangement of the second line of defense as betrayal and surrender of positions. I ask that Russian propagandists leave calls in the spirit of «the Armed Forces retreat, Kherson will surrender» and other delusions. There is no reason to panic. Our brave soldiers stand firmly in defense of Kherson Oblast and the entire country,» he said.

Earlier it was reported that Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberov, Ukrainian photographers, criticized the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the lack of a second line of defense in Avdiivka.

Before that, on February 15, the fighters of the third separate assault brigade confirmed that they were urgently redeployed to the Avdiiivka district of the Donetsk region to reinforce Ukrainian troops. Deputy brigade commander Maksym Zhorin said that the battles in Avdiivka were many times more difficult than those in Bakhmut.

OSUV spokesman Tavria Dmytro Lykhovii said that the occupiers are trying to pass to the west of the Avdiivka Сoke, but there they meet decent resistance from Ukrainian soldiers. The situation in the Avdiivka direction remains very tense, but under control.

Before that, it became known that for the defense of Avdiivka and Kupiansk, in order to reduce the offensive potential of the enemy, Ukrainian troops will be regrouped and reserves will be mobilized.

Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, noted that Russian troops are involving armored groups in the assaults on Avdiyivka and Novomykhailivka. They are thrown to support infantry groups.

According to British intelligence, the area around Avdiivka is likely to remain the key focus of the Russian Federation's efforts at the front.
