Ukraine received permission for the free use of tanks, armored vehicles and other equipment, which was transferred by Canada, on the territory of the Russian Federation.

This was announced by the Ministry of National Defense of Canada, writes CBC News.

Canada handed Ukraine eight Leopard 2A4 tanks, several dozen armored combat support vehicles and hundreds of armored patrol vehicles, as well as several M-777 howitzers.

«Ukrainians know best how to defend their homeland, and we are committed to supporting their capabilities,» said the spokeswoman for the Canadian Ministry of Defense, Andree-Anne Poulin.

She added that Canada does not have any geographic restrictions on the use of military equipment that the country transfers to Ukraine.

It should be noted that it is not known whether Canadian weapons were in the hands of the Ukrainian brigades when they began their operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, footage shot by CNN on the Ukrainian border on Thursday showed a Canadian-made Senator patrol car crossing the border with Russia.

Andrée-Anne Poulin noted that Canadian aid always complies with the requirements of the Arms Trade Treaty, an international agreement designed to reduce illegal arms transfers and human rights abuses.

It will be recalled that the head of the committee on foreign affairs of the French parliament, Jean-Louis Bourlanger, called for the lifting of the ban on Ukraine striking Russian territory with French weapons.

The Government of Sweden also supports the idea of allowing Ukraine to strike military targets located on the territory of Russia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain, David Cameron, said that London does not object to the use of weapons against targets inside the Russian Federation. The Czech Republic and the Baltic States also granted the relevant permission.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, said that a country waging a defensive war can strike military facilities on the aggressor's territory if it is necessary for self-defense.

Denmark also supports Ukraine's right to strike its weapons against military targets in Russia, this is part of Kyiv's self-defense.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not believe that giving Ukraine the opportunity to strike military targets on Russian territory with weapons supplied by his country will lead to escalation.

US President Joe Biden said that US weapons should not be used by Ukraine to strike more than 320 kilometers deep into Russia. Kyiv cannot beat Moscow and the Kremlin with it.
