Dmytro Bezdolnyi, director of the Mykolaiv Housing and Communal Services Department, said that the main task of his department is to restore the housing stock after the destruction, rather than implement large-scale or image-building projects.
He said this during a briefing, answering a question from a journalist from NikVesti.
The official noted that the Housing and Communal Services Department is working in an emergency mode to solve the urgent problems of Mykolaiv residents regarding war-damaged property.
«The difficulty is that we are in firefighter mode. We are trying to extinguish the biggest fire. All the work is presented on slides. It would be difficult to say that any building is more or less important. There are large-scale projects, but their significance... I'm not going to give an assessment of what is more important, whether it's more important for people to drive on a normal road or to restore their windows. We are busy with more houses, and it is difficult to distinguish among them,» said Dmytro Bezdolnyi.
He also stressed that the department's task is to use the available funding to repair damaged facilities and attract additional resources for further projects.
«Our focus is to use the funds to make as many repairs as possible and find additional funding to cover the rest. Until we have at least the destroyed or damaged houses completed, not to mention the planned ones, we cannot talk about PR projects to hang stars,» the official added.
As a reminder, the Mykolaiv Housing and Communal Services Department cannot find specialists to adjust the software of the fountain on Soborna Street so that it can start working.
